Society to Save Rocks
The Society to Save Rocks aims to preserve and protect the spectacular ancient granite formations of the Deccan Plateau, India - a natural wonder of stony ridges and hillocks shaped into picturesque balancing forms.
The Society works with developers, government agencies and the public to safeguard valuable rock areas. Through cultural programmes, interactive lectures and Rock Walks, the Society also shows people that modernization and progress need not involve the destruction of this natural heritage. Through the efforts of the Society, 26 rock areas have been officially notified as Heritage Precincts under HMDA Regulations by the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
